My Books
This section brings together my longer works: published books, private volumes, and extended projects shaped by an enduring interest in memory, family history, and the inner lives of ordinary people. Some of these books were written for a general readership, others for family and friends, and several as acts of preservation—recording experiences and voices that might otherwise be lost.
At the heart of this collection are two published works: Esther Hewlett Copley: A Woman of Wisdom and Kindness, an imaginative history grounded in long-term research, and A Girl Who Didn’t Fit In, a personal memoir reflecting on education, identity, and inward life.
Alongside these are a number of quieter projects, including memory journals designed to help older generations record their childhood experiences, and several family and place-based books created using online publishing tools. Among them is Until Travelling Days Are Done, which traces my parents’ motoring journeys through the Australian landscape between 1927 and 1932.
Also included are works connected to earlier generations, such as A Prodigal Bard, a volume of poems by my grandfather, James Philip Hewlett IV (1875–1919). Not all of the books listed here are currently available in publishable digital form, but contextual notes and selected material are provided where possible.
